Black streaks on roof are caused by Gleocapsa Magma, or “blue-green” algae, which appears black on the roof. Blue-Green algae is an airborne organism that moves from roof to roof. These ugly streaks find a home on roofs that have little protection to keep algae from growing, ruining the roof’s appearance.
